Pitch & Release - Writing for PR
A successful pitch takes lots of writing, rewriting and then more writing. For an assignment, I got to write pitches to writers whose beat can tie into one of the biggest shampoo brands in the country. The assignment was hypothetical and reviewed by my professor. In addition to pitching, I also learned how to write news releases for a different client.
Event Programming - PR Strategies
Austin is a very artsy city that has many local non-profits. One of them being Austin Art Garage. As part of a project in my PR Strategies class, we pitched Austin Art Garage an idea to help meet their goals. The idea was a monthly event series with art, live music and local food. It doesn’t get more Austin than that.
Messaging - PR Strategies
Many brands are looking to be part of a movement now. They are more vocal about various social issues and want to make their advocacy known. To better understand this movement, fellow PR students and I delivered a presentation on advocacy messaging to our class by giving examples and recommendations for messaging.
